From 10 September to 1 November 2026, the Project Room at the Centro per l’arte contemporanea Luigi Pecci in Prato hosts La rivoluzione siamo noi (We Are the Revolution). Powered by Mamma Mia Museum, a project curated by Serena Becagli, a curator and caregiver. The project documents the transformative power of art and its languages, exploring how, through the lens of art, the objects moved or unexpectedly juxtaposed by her mother, Antonella Napoli, who lives with dementia, can be seen as potential art installations.

The exhibition opens in September, the month dedicated to Alzheimer’s disease.

The exhibition La rivoluzione siamo noi presents the Mamma Mia Museum project, curated by Serena Becagli, a curator and caregiver, for the first time in a contemporary art museum. Launched in 2020 on social media, the exhibition documents, through photographs, the curious combinations or rearrangements of everyday objects created by the artist’s mother, Antonella Napoli, who lives with dementia. It is the transformative power of art and its languages—as understood by her daughter—that allows one to see potential art installations in what might appear to be “mistakes.” The titles of the photographs explicitly highlight references or allusions to contemporary art.

The exhibition at the Pecci Center features 25 photographs—including 4 previously unpublished ones—video clips, and several “backstage” shots: photographs documenting visits to exhibitions and museums, spaces of freedom for all the bodies and minds. Among the latter is an image of the artist’s mother visiting the Centro Pecci with Joseph Beuys’s work La rivoluzione siamo noi (We Are the Revolution) behind her: the piece that lends its title to the exhibition.

The exhibition is accompanied by meetings, conferences, and workshops aimed at raising awareness about dementia.
