A young princess is demoted to the rank of servant by a cruel stepmother and her stepsisters, Anastasia and Drogovefa. Her habit of sitting by the ashes of the fireplace earns her the title "Cinderella." Harassment is commonplace, but the protagonist patiently endures, aided by a host of little animals who offer her encouragement. The chance for a better future, thanks also to the intervention of a good fairy, arrives at a reception hosted by a king to find a worthy wife for his son...
