The program of meetings promoted by the Rete del Contemporaneo in Toscana continues with an event dedicated to the relationship between contemporary art, public space and urban transformation.
The panel discussion Cultural Centers, Public Art and Transformative Practices in Livorno opens a civic dialogue on the public dimension and the widespread perception of contemporary art in the city. Starting from experiences of urban regeneration through art – such as the established projects of Carico Massimo and Fondazione Magazzini Generali, the methodologies for reactivating urban voids developed by CUT – Circuito Urbano Temporaneo, artists’ interventions in public space and the historical mapping project I luoghi di Fattori – the meeting proposes a path between history and contemporaneity, reflecting on the transformative role that art can play within the territory.
Curators, artists, scholars and representatives of public and private institutions will contribute to the discussion, addressing the public in order to outline possible perspectives for strengthening artistic development within and for the city of Livorno.
Institutional greetings:
