Inspired by the lyrical power of Sebastião Salgado's photography, The Salt of the Earth is a monumental documentary that traces the artistic and human itinerary of the Brazilian photographer through the intersecting gazes of Wim Wenders - also a photographer - and his son Juliano who accompanied him on his last travels. A hero of our time, an unrelenting traveler, Sebastião Salgado has explored over 40 countries. In each of his shots, with his unmistakable and very personal use of black and white, he condensed all humanity and the soul of the earth through stories of workers, migrations and poverty. He narrated the relationship between man and the environment, narrating with an extraordinary gaze the beauty of nature and what remains of it today, despite destruction and climate change. For this reason, in 2016 the French Academy of Fine Arts elected him "a great witness of the human condition and the state of the planet".
