For the public at large, the meeting with contemporary art is never easy. The works are different from those studied in school-books, and in the last few years museums and galleries have often made little attempt to set up a dialogue with the public. The project #artevita, promoted by the Centro Pecci in the streets of Prato, hopes to reduce this gap, taking art among the townspeople by means of on-the-road laboratories. Thus both the people of Prato and the tourists can encounter contemporary art in the places of their normal activity, outside the museum. The operators of #artevita help citizens to understand how the language of contemporary art not only is not impossible to learn, but is also actually very close to our daily lives.
